Hebrew media reported on Monday that Olmert and his war minister Ehud Barak gave orders to their army following the cabinet meeting on Sunday to toughen retaliatory strikes to the Palestinian crude missiles fired from Gaza.

Yedioth Ahronoth quoted political and military sources as saying that the IOF air force would bomb any Hamas command or institution in the Strip in return for each missile hitting an Israeli house.

They added that chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi and other senior officers had recently reviewed with Olmert possible targets for such attacks in the event the Palestinian missiles continued to hit Israeli settlements near the Strip.

GAZA, (PIC)– Samar Subaih, the Palestinian female captive who gave birth in Israeli jails but freed Monday after spending 28 months in captivity, has urged the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas Movement, to kidnap more IOF servicemen so as to swap them with Palestinian prisoners.

She also called on captors of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit not to release the corporal unless Israel frees all Palestinian captives in its jails.

Subaih’s remarks came during a press conference held after her arrival with her two-year-old son Bara’a to her house in Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip Monday afternoon where she unveiled that Palestinian captives in Israeli jails were exposed to daily humiliation and maltreatment at the hands of the Israeli jailers.

“Palestinian captives are in need of serious and collective Palestinian efforts to press and work for their release”, she stressed.

Describing her experience in jail as “difficult”, Subaih explained that she gave birth to Bara’a while in jail and that prison guards removed her chains only during the delivery which was by Caesarean,  adding that the handcuffes were put back on as soon as she came round. 

She also said that none of her relatives were allowed to attend the birth, not even her husband who was in administrative detention in an Israeli jail.

The prison authority, however, allowed lawyer Buthaina Dakmak of the Mandela foundation to attend the birth. Dakmak described the transfer of Samar from prison to hospital were she gave birth as: ”contradictory to all humanitarian conventions as Samar, who was accompanied by three prison guards, had her hands and feet shackled and was subjected to a humiliating strip search, and the shackles were kept during the medical examination.”

Husband of Subaih in addition to big numbers of Palestinian citizens including MPs Jameela Al-Shanti and Huda Naim among others and elements of the QB were in reception of Subaih as she crossed into the Gaza Strip.

The freed female captive was pregnant in her second month when scores of IOF soldiers stormed home of her husband in the West Bank city of Tulkarem in 2005 and arrested her before subjecting her to physical and mental torture in the Maskobeyah detention center in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

“They (Israeli interrogators) threatened me with aborting my pregnancy, of bombing our home, and of kidnapping my father and brothers in order to pressure me into making a confession”, she underlined.

Human rights and legal institutions, including the Mandela foundation among other societies had repeatedly appealed to the Israeli occupation government to release Subaih on humanistic grounds, but the IOA turned down those appeals and insisted that Subaih must complete her jail term.

More than 11,500 Palestinian citizens of both genders and of all age categories, including around 120 woman and 350 minors among others are living in extremely difficult conditions in Israeli jails in spite of persistent international calls to free them.
